Hellhounds - 2023 CCAD Thesis Film
This is a silly animated short where two recently deceased dogs traverse the underworld on a mission to take down the Queens of Hell.
This film is based on a true story. Kind of.
In the summer of 2022, my beloved family dog Audrey sadly passed away. We had her for maybe 13 years, so it was heartbreaking to see her go after watching her grow from just a puppy. Just one month later, my boyfriend Ryan's family dog, Yoshi, also passed away. It was equally devastating. The two never met, so for my senior thesis, I thought it would be fun if they went on an adventure through the afterlife.
The film was also inspired by the work of Abby Goss, specifically her silly dog drawings. I was lucky enough to get her permission to include a cameo of her poor puppy Chelsea who passed away this year.
In April, I posted a form for people to submit the names of their recently deceased dogs to be put in the credits. To my surprise, I gathered over 300 names! The whole thing sort of became a tribute to dead dogs everywhere.
